To allow students to hear the importance of a home fire drill

Objectives

The students will:

Hear a smoke alarm

Identify the need for a home fire drill

Hear, see and touch a firefighter in firefighting gear

The firefighters on shift will be scheduled for this program as with the kindergarten program.  The firefighters will allow the children to see and touch each portion of their gear, so that any fear may be reduced.  Children hide from firefighters because in their gear, firefighters look like a monster to a child.  This program focuses on the importance of not hiding from firefighters, of getting out of the structure on fire, and of practicing fire drills at home.  Reinforcement materials will be given to the students.
