Real Estate Land Book
Annually, the Real Estate Assessments Division (Division) creates the James City County Land Book. Copies of the Land Book are kept in the Division, the Office of the Treasurer of James City County, and at the Williamsburg/James City County Courthouse with the Clerk of the Circuit Court: Anyone may examine the books to compare assessments and taxes of properties. For each parcel of real estate, the name of the owner(s), the amount of the assessment, and the taxes levied are also recorded in the Land Book.
The Division also maintains other property information that is available to the public. This information includes ownership, source of title, sales prices, transfer dates, legal descriptions, descriptions of the land and buildings, and a history of assessments. This information is available in our offices located at the James City County Government Center.
