Procedure for Application of Business License
- Complete application for Business, Professional and Occupational License.
- If necessary, complete application for Certificate for Business under Assumed Name
- If you are going to use a TRADE NAME, the Certificate for Business under Assumed Name must be typed and filed with the CLERK OF CIRCUIT COURT located on the 1ST FLOOR OF WILLIAMSBURG – JAMES CITY COUNTY COURTHOUSE. (Cost $12.50.) PLEASE NOTE that your signature must be noterized before filing with the Clerk. NOTARY SERVICES are available at the WILLIAMSBURG – JAMES CITY COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE located on the 3RD floor of the Courthouse.
- If necessary complete application for Application for Home Occupation
- IF YOU ARE USING YOUR HOME IN ANY CAPACITY, FILL OUT THE Application for Home Occupation COMPLETELY AND LEAVE WITH OUR OFFICE.
- Show Proof of Citizenship if you are a sole proprietor/partner (MUST BE PRESENTED IN PERSON)
Payments accepted by Check and Money Order, OR you may be billed for the License Tax.
