Shoplifting Prevention Program
What is a Shoplifting Prevention Program?
This is a sanction that is levied against an offender when an offense such as larceny, petit larceny, concealment, and/or shoplifting has been committed. This program consists of a four-hour educational workshop on the impact of shoplifting/theft on the offender and the community in which the offender lives. The program also focuses on changing the behavior of the offender with the intent of preventing future offenses. The Shoplifting Prevention Program not only allows the offender to focus on changing his/her behavior, but it also allows the Probation Officer supervising the offender to assess other areas that may need to be addressed.
Cost
The program does have a monetary fee. As of July 1, 2002, the fee for the Shoplifting Prevention Program was $35.00. Please contact CCC at (757) 564-2311 for the current fee. The fee is an essential part of the program, because it allows our agency to continually provide offenders with the most qualified personnel to facilitate the program.
