Drainage Improvements Program
The Environmental Division has a drainage improvement program authorized by the Board of Supervisors. The purpose of this program is to correct existing drainage and erosion problems which are adversely impacting landowners and the environment. The Environmental Division will work in partnership with landowners on the design, contracting and supervision of the restoration work. Potential projects are prioritized and scheduled depending on funding available. This environmental program part of James City County's commitment to the environment.
Policy Project Consideration
- The property must lie entirely within James City County.
- The problem must be located outside of the VDOT right of way.
- Prior to the use of any public funds, attempts will be made to resolve the problem within the private sector.
- The property must have an adequate maintenance/drainage easement, or the owner must be willing to grant such an easement.
