Public Safety Positions: Emergency Communicator
The James City County Central Emergency Communications Center is staffed with a total of 19 Communication Officers which provide 24-hour per day coverage for emergency calls for Police, Fire and EMS requests in James City County, using an Enhanced 911 and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems. The Center also takes emergency calls for Animal Control and the James City Service Authority (JCSA) after normal working hours. The Communication Officers are responsible for monitoring the Virginia and Surry Nuclear Power Plant emergency warning systems and notifying the appropriate emergency services staff personnel as required.
