James City County’s Board of Supervisors and Economic Development Authority (EDA) presented the Captain John Smith Award to Nicewood Enterprises at the 16th annual Celebration of Business event in October.

The annual award is given to a business, organization or individual for exemplary contributions in the James City County business community.

Nicewood’s employees produce eye-catching retail merchandise display fixtures. The company stands behind its products. They understand that customer satisfaction is the surest way to continue future growth and prosperity. Nicewood’s clients include national retailers such as Nautica, Tourneau and J Crew.

Parent company, David A. Nice Builders, Inc., has been in James City County since 1976 and Nicewood Enterprises joined the community in 1999. In October 2008, Nicewood initiated a $1.78 million, 40,000 square-foot expansion of its current facility in Stonehouse Commerce Park utilizing an Industrial Revenue Bond issued through the James City County EDA.
