Board organizes for 2012 – The JCC Board of Supervisors met on Jan. 3 for their annual organizational meeting to elect a Chairman and Vice Chairman. Mary Jones will continue to serve as Chairman of the James City County Board of Supervisors. John McGlennon was elected Vice Chairman.
Jones has represented the Berkeley District on the Board since 2007. McGlennon represents the Roberts District and has served on the Board since 1997.
The Board also approved its meeting calendar for 2012 which is available online.
The year in review – The County’s 2011 Progress Report is now available exclusively online. The Report features highlights of County government achievements during Fiscal Year 2011 which runs from July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011.

Resolve to be more involved – The Board of Supervisors is accepting applications for vacancies on the Clean County Commission.
The Commission is a group of volunteers dedicated to promoting recycling and litter control, providing environmental education and helping coordinate County beautification projects.

Mark your calendars – The County is hosting an Enterprise Zone workshop on Jan. 18 from 9:30-11:30 a.m., 5308 Discovery Park Blvd., Suite 204.
The workshop will provide detailed instructions on how businesses, property owners, CPAs, developers and contractors can meet qualification requirements for State and local enterprise zone incentives.

A quick reminder – Dog tags must be on County dogs by Jan. 31. A valid rabies certificate is required. Tags can be purchased at the Treasurer’s Office or Satellite Services. If the rabies certificate is on file with the Treasurer’s Office, ePayment may be used.
