Man falls from tree - 08/07/00

JAMES CITY COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT
The James City County Fire Department responded to a report of a man that had fallen from a tree today. The patient fell approximately 60 feet onto a concrete driveway. The patient’s injuries are described as severe.
The call was received by the 911 center at 10:58 a.m. this morning. The first unit arrived on the scene two minutes later at 11 a.m. The address responded to was 121 Stanley Drive in James City County. The patient is Richard Chuhralya, age 47 of Toano, Virginia. He is a professional tree trimmer and was working at the Stanley Drive address. Mr. Chuhralya suffered multiple musculoskeletal trauma to the legs and spine. It is reported that he landed on his feet.
Mr. Chuhralya was working at the top of a pine tree. He did not lose consciousness. He was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital by the Nightingale Helicopter. The James City County Fire Department responded with an Engine Company and a Medic (Ambulance) Company along with six personnel including two paramedics.
