School Bus Accident - 11/29/01

 

PRESS RELEASE

29 NOVEMBER, 2001

 

James City County Fire Department

 

The James City County 911 Center received a call reporting an accident involving a Williamsburg-James City School Bus at 1:06 p.m. today.  The County Fire and Police Departments responded units to the scene.  Williamsburg Fire Department responded a second ambulance under the city-county mutual aid agreement.

 

There were no students on the bus. 

 

The accident occurred at an intersection of the Longhill connector Road an Eastern State Hospital entrance road.  This intersection is also the entrance to the James City Williamsburg Community Center.  There were two vehicles involved in the accident, the school bus and a pick-up truck.  Both the driver of the school bus and the pick-up were injured in the accident.  Both were transported to Williamsburg Community Hospital.  Injuries to both were described as minor in nature.  The damage to both vehicles was described as extensive.  The Virginia State Police is investigating.
