Residents of James City County are invited to a community meeting sponsored by Jamestown District Supervisor John McGlennon on the schedule for and impact of the Virginia Department of Transportation project to widen Route 199 and improve the Route 199/Jamestown Road intersection.
The meeting will take place on Thursday, February 13, 2003, at Rawls Byrd Elementary School, 112 Laurel Lane, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will begin with brief presentations by Steven Hicks, Williamsburg Resident Engineer for VDOT and Gary Massie, representing the 2007 Corridor Construction team which will build the project under a public-private partnership agreement.
Construction is expected to begin later this Spring, and the meeting is designed to provide information and address concerns of area residents about how the construction may affect their communities and daily activities. The project is designed to include widening of Route 199 from Brookwood Drive to Route 60 East, improving the Jamestown Road intersection with Route 199 by adding turn lanes, and reconstructing the entrance to the Jamestown Settlement on Jamestown Road.
Residents of Williamsburg and others affected by the project are invited to attend.
