The Division of Parks and Recreation is looking for volunteers to help plant 5,500 seedling trees that were received through a grant from the National Tree Trust.
The seedlings are approximately 12-30" tall and will be planted at various parks, schools, and community character corridors throughout the County. Types of trees include Redbuds, Dogwoods, White Oaks, Red Maples, River Birch, and Bald Cypress.
Approximately 500 volunteer hours are needed to make this planting successful, which equates to around 150 volunteers donating about 3-4 hours of time. Plantings are scheduled for March 8, 15, 22, 29, and April 5. Planting times are 9 a.m. - 12 noon and 12 noon - 3 p.m. Individuals, youth, and civic groups are encouraged to volunteer.
