James City County Administrator Sandy Wanner has been named Vice President of Conferences, Inc., a corporation created last year to handle the budgeting and legal responsibilities of hosting two national conferences in Virginia.
Both conferences will be held in Richmond -- The National Association of Counties' (NACo) 72nd Annual Conference is set for 2007, and the International City/County Management Association's (ICMA) 94th Annual Conference for 2008.
The NACo conference is planned for July 13-17, 2007, with one of the conference events being held in Jamestown in recognition of its 400th anniversary. An estimated 5,000 to 7,000 county officials are expected to attend. Between 2,500 and 3,000 officials are expected to participate in the ICMA event.
In addition to being active in NACo, VACo and ICMA, Wanner serves as Third Vice President of the Virginia Local Government Management Association (VLGMA).
Virginia Association of Counties' (VACo) Executive Director James D. Campbell is President and Treasurer of Conferences, Inc. VACo General Counsel Phyllis Errico serves as Secretary. Henrico County Manager Virgil R. Hazelett, Chesterfield County Administrator Lane B. Ramsey, Hanover County Administrator Richard R. Johnson, and Richmond City Manager Calvin D. Jamison serve as directors of the corporation.
