James City County honors retirees, others with service milestones

James City County recently honored seven employees who retired this year with a total of more than 145 years of service to the County.
James City County employees with 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years' service also were recognized at the 2004 Employee Service Awards Luncheon held November 22.
James City's first County Attorney, Frank M. Morton III, retired in August after more than 30 years. Other retirees and their years of service include: Barbra Cook, Sheriff's Office, 15 years; Gary N. Crayton, Fire Department, 25 years; Sarah E. Noble, Williamsburg Regional Library, 17 years; Ronald J. Robertson, Fire Department, 24 years; C. Wes Saunders, Solid Waste Division,18 years; and Clayton T. Smith, Code Compliance, 16 years.
County employees honored for 30 years of service include: Wayland N. Bass, Development Management; Claudia H. Birkholz and Dawn Martin, Circuit Court Clerk’s Office; and Maurice Smith, Social Services.
