Williamsburg Area Transport (WAT) has received federal and state matching grants totaling $150,000 to purchase three replacement vehicles for transporting disabled riders. Each vehicle can accommodate up to three wheelchairs and eight disabled passengers.
One vehicle will be used for paratransit (door-to-door) service and two other vehicles will be used on fixed routes. WAT provides fixed-route accessible bus service for James City County, City of Williamsburg, and the Bruton District of York County. The paratransit service is available for those unable to use accessible bus service because of mental or physical challenges. For more information, call 259-4093 or see www.williamsburgtransport.com.
