Citizens can now follow along with the Steering Committee and staff on a new pilot initiative blog that focuses on this stage of the Comprehensive Plan Update. Before each weekly Steering Committee meeting, materials will be posted at www.jccplans.org and Steering Committee members will begin discussions using the blog. The public can view the discussions at www.jccplans.org/blogs and sign up for an RSS feed to forward blog updates to readers’ e-mail accounts.
Citizens with comments on the materials or blog discussions are encouraged to fill out the online input form at www.jccplans.org in the “What do you think” area. Citizens are also invited to attend the Steering Committee meetings and participate through public comment periods at the beginning and end of each meeting. The schedule is available on www.jccplans.org/steering/.
Meetings are televised live on JCC TV48 and rebroadcast Wednesdays on Community Channel 46 at 8 a.m., 2 p.m., and 8 p.m. or on-demand on www.jccegov.com/jcctv48.
The Comprehensive Plan is the County’s master plan for guiding future growth. Reviewed every 5 years, it is used to evaluate development proposals and guide the decisions of County departments. It covers all aspects of the community, including economic development, population growth, public facilities, parks and recreation, and transportation. The process to update the County’s 2003 Comprehensive Plan began in November 2007.
