James City County Administrative Assistant Kathy Irby has been named Parks and Recreation’s 2008 Employee of the Year. During this period of transition and staff shortages, Irby was recognized for developing procedures to improve division productivity by streamlining paperwork and online registration processes.
Irby works tirelessly during peak program registration periods to ensure families can begin recreation programs as soon as possible. Due much to her efforts, the division now has its first Rec Connect Phone system that offers 24-hour access to Parks and Recreation program registration information. Irby also volunteers her own time and resources to prepare for moral building activities in her work unit.
Irby strives to manage her high volume workload with a positive attitude and utmost professionalism, all while ensuring County customers receive the highest level of service.
The Employee of the Year program recognizes employees who consistently perform well beyond what is required on a day-to-day basis. The other 2008 nominees were Robbie Belch, Rebecca Duncan, Amy Fiedor, Steven Gallo, Kelley Herbert, Veda McMullen, Phil Mease, Pauline Milligan, Rodney Scoggins and Dan Smith.
