The Williamsburg Area Transit Authority (WATA) announces that beginning on April 6, 2009, it will increase the frequency of service on WAT Blue and Gray Line buses year round, and on the Orange and the Tan Lines from April Through October.

According to Mr. Leon Sisco, Operations Director, WAT will put a second bus on these hourly routes starting at the Williamsburg Transportation Center every half-hour between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.  WAT’s published service hours will remain hourly on other WAT routes and from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.

These routes were chosen for increased frequency because they produce the WAT system’s highest ridership.  The Blue Line serves Richmond Road to the Williamsburg Outlet Mall.  The Gray Line serves Route 60 East to Lee Hall in Newport News.  The Orange Line serves the Colonial Williamsburg Visitors Center from Route 143 to Tam-o-Shanter Boulevard, The Marquis, and Penniman Road. The Tan Line serves Mooretown Road to Williamsburg Marketplace, Wal-Mart, Great Wolfe Lodge, Williamsburg Outlet Mall, and Sentara Williamsburg Regional Hospital.

More information may be obtained by calling WATA Headquarters at 757-220-5493 Ext 200, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, or online at www.williamsburgtransport.com
