SURRY — The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) advises Jamestown-Scotland Ferry motorists to expect significant delays through the weekend. The ferry, Pocahontas, is out-of-service for mechanical repairs.
The Pocahontas, which carries 70 vehicles across the river, was taken out of service earlier this week. Repairs will continue through the weekend. Motorists should allow extra time due to the anticipated delays. Both the Surry and the Williamsburg are in service and operating to the full capacity of 50 vehicles each. The Virginia, which carries 28 vehicles, is also in operation.
The weekend ferry operation schedule will be maintained; however, additional delays are expected due to the reduced service capacity. Please visit http://www.virginiadot.org/travel/ferry-jamestown.asp for the current operating schedule.
