As a result of worsening weather conditions, James City County Administrator Sandy Wanner has declared a Local State of Emergency as of 8:30 a.m. Areas of the County are experiencing local tidal flooding especially in the areas of Chickahominy Haven, Jamestown Marina, Jamestown Island, Jamestown 1607, Powhatan Creek, Powhatan Shores, First Colony, The Mews, and Chickahominy Riverfront Park
Local residents living in flood prone areas are encouraged to move to higher ground and prepare their homes and property for potential flooding.
The Jamestown-Scotland Ferry service has been suspended by the Virginia Department of Transportation.
A Local Emergency allows the County to file for reimbursement from the State for expenses incurred during an emergency.
