Structure Fire at 4646 News Road in James City County

Fire and EMS units, with 27 personnel, from the James City County Fire Department responded at 22:53 p.m. Christmas night (12/25/09) for the report of a structure fire at 4646 News Road, in James City County. First arriving units found heavy fire coming from the roof of a single story residential structure. Firefighters made a search of the home and quickly knocked down the fire.
The structure had extensive fire damage to the living room, utility closet, attic space and roof with moderate smoke damage to the remainder of the home. Residents were home at the time of the fire, but were able to escape unharmed. The local chapter of the Red Cross was on scene and provided assistance.
Based on the fire scene investigation of the James City County Fire Marshal’s Office, they confirm that the fire originated in the utility area of the structure but the exact cause is still under investigation at this time.
