Uniform Division

Stan StoutThe Uniform Division is the primary law enforcement function and embraces much more than the act of patrolling.  It is a generalized function in which officers engage in a wide variety of activities to include, but not limited to, enforcing traffic and criminal laws, answering complaints, disturbing the peace issues, conducting follow-up investigations, community policing, transporting prisoners, community services activities and other such duties. The James City County Police Department provides law enforcement to all citizens in James City County, twenty-four (24) hours a day, each day.

The Uniform Division consists of three separate shifts, Days, Evenings and Midnights.  Each shift is supervised by a Lieutenant and a Sergeant.  The County is divided up into five zones.  The officers of each shift are assigned to a zone after attending roll call.  The officers work their assigned zone for the duration of their shift.  These officers take calls for service.

For more information about the Uniform Division, contact Deputy Chief Stan Stout at 757-259-5143.
