Register for a Class
- To register for any class you must have an annual activity waiver on file.
- Register early as classes may fill up quickly. If minimum enrollment is not reached one week prior to the starting date of the class, the activity will be cancelled. If class/activity has not reached its maximum, registration will be accepted up to the start of the second-class period unless otherwise noted.
- If class/activity is cancelled, you will be notified by phone. You may transfer to another class or request a refund. Please allow three weeks to receive your refund.
- Please pay by check, Visa or MasterCard, Cash or money order.
- Registration Confirmation will not be sent by mail. Assume you are in the class unless otherwise notified.

Mail-In - Complete registration form and fill in all information requested. Attach check or money order for correct amount, payable to James City County Parks and Recreation, or credit card number, and mail to:

Phone In/Fax In - Phone-in credit card processing is available by calling, 887-5810, between the hours of 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.weekdays and 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. on the weekends. It’s recommended that registrations by fax (JCWCC 259-4199 or JRCC 887-1652) be sent during the hours listed under walk-in procedures. You’ll need to have a signed Annual Activity Waiver on file prior to your first phone/fax-in. Registration for the Rec Connect Before and After School and Summer Camp Programs is mail-in only; however, weekly payments can be made by phone after acceptance into program. Phone In/Fax In Registrations are not available for facility registrations.
Online Registration - To register online you will need your household number, password, class numbers from the Parks & Recreation brochure, and MasterCard or Visa. To obtain your household ID number and password just visit or call the JCWCC at 757-259-4200 or the JRCC at 757-887-5810 to request this information. Not every course is available for registration through the Internet. To use the online registration option you cannot have a balance on your Parks & Recreation account. Your registration is final after you complete the check out process. If you choose to disconnect before receiving a verification message, your transaction will be automatically deleted. Please visit your nearest community center for assistance. James City County uses the latest online payment security.
Acquire an annual activity waiver.
- The Annual Activity Waiver is available at all Parks and Recreation locations, the EOC, as well as downloadable from our website. The Annual Activity Waiver allows you to list everyone in your household on one easy form. Dependents 18 and older will be required to complete a separate form. Bring your completed waiver and photo identification to any of our sites for processing. That’s all there is to it! Once your waiver is on file, you can register for activities over the telephone, by fax, on the web, or in person.

- Only needs to be completed and signed once a year
- Once your household has a waiver on file, you can call-in or register on-line for available activities. Registration forms will be required for all walk-in business in addition to Before and After School and Total Rec Camp Classes.
Register for an access pass
Enjoy the many amenities of our indoor facilities by stopping by the customer service desk at either the James City/Williamsburg or James River Community Centers. Our staff will be happy to assist you with access pass and visitor information. Access applications can be downloaded (JCWCC / JRCC) and completed beforehand. Apply for a refund
- Facilities/Shelters/Fields - James City County Division of Parks and Recreation will grant a refund for shelters/facilities/fields that are canceled seven days prior to the date of the reservation. A 10 percent processing fee will be assessed
- Class/Trip - To receive a refund/credit voucher, a request form must be submitted seven days prior to the class start date. They can be processed by fax (259-5420), walk-in at one of our community centers, or e-mailed to Dolores Durling (ddurling@james-city.va.us). All refunds/credit voucher requests will be assessed a $5 administrative fee. Pre-purchased goods are nonrefundable. Documentation will be required for requests due to illness, injury, relocation, or family emergency made after the deadline.
- Passes - The Division will grant a refund for illness, injury, family emergency or relocation (over 35 miles) minus a 10 percent processing fee. Passes will be pro-rated from date of purchase. Documentation is required. Freezing may be allowed at the discretion of the Center Administrator and will only be done for medical reasons or leaving the area for more than 30 days with required proper documentation. Passes must have been active for a minimum of 30 days before freezing.
- Before/After School - A credit voucher, not a refund, will be given for missed days in the case of injury, illness, or family emergency (documentation will be required). A $5 administrative fee will be charged. A credit form must be filled out within seven days (hand-stamped or postmarked). A refund will be given for relocation over 35 miles. Credit vouchers will only be given if there is a change of payment status.
Apply for financial assistance.
All JCC and Williamsburg residents may apply for a discount for Parks and Recreation program activities. Residents wishing to apply for the discount will be required to complete a Financial Assistance Application and provide proof of income annually. Income eligibility information and Financial Assistance Applications may be obtained at any Parks and Recreation facility. For more information on the Financial Assistance Policy call 259-3200.
In accordance with the American with Disabilities Act standards the James City County Division of Parks and Recreation provides leisure opportunities and recreation programs, which are open and accessible to all citizens in the County regardless of physical or mental ability. Persons with disabilities are encouraged to recreate with their peers by taking any class listed in this brochure. If you, a family member, a friend, or a client, have a special need, the staff will be happy to assist you. Please give us at least three weeks notice prior to the class or program start date to make reasonable accommodations. It is out intent to provide a safe, successful, and enjoyable experience for all. To reserve a room or recreational space at the Community Centers, Facility Request Form must be completed and submitted along with full payment and deposit if applicable to the appropriate community center.
