We offer a myriad of opportunities to enjoy our facilities and the wonderful outdoors our unique community has to offer. As the nation recognizes Jamestown’s 400th Commemoration, we recognize the historical importance of our parks. Freedom Park dates back to the 1600’s as the site of the first Free Black Settlement in America, the Revolutionary War Battle at Spenser’s Ordinary and a 17th century domicile. Chickahominy Riverfront Park served as the backdrop for the 2005 movie “A New World” starring Colin Farrell as Captain John Smith. The Greensprings Trail offers hikers the chance to retrace the footsteps of Virginia Indians and early colonists while linking historical events with natural features. Expansion of the Capital to Capital bikeway will eventually extend to Chickahominy Riverfront Park, Greensprings Trail and Powhatan Creek Park. If you prefer the indoors, The James City/ Williamsburg Community Center offers a complete range James City County Community Centerof fitness equipment, gym, indoor track, and a sauna just to name a few. The James River Community Center holds Teen Tournaments throughout the week in their gymnasium and the multi-purpose room is equipped with a  bring screen TV, pool and ping pong tables. Additional parks include Mid County Park with its recently completed  two-third mile paved trail. Or our new building, 2007 Legacy Hall. Also, if you thought Little Creek Reservoir only offered fishing facilities, take a walk across the newly constructed boardwalk to many new facilities.  If extreme sports are more your thing, a visit to the Skate Park, home of the Annual Skate Jam, might just hit the spot.

No matter how you prefer to spend your time, choose James City County Parks and Recreation where the Benefits are Endless.
