James City County operates three outdoor pools - one at Upper County Park and two at Chickahominy Riverfront Park. The pools are open on weekends starting Memorial Day and all day starting in mid-June. The outdoor pool at Upper County Park features an eight-foot high double water slide and has a baby pool, lounge chairs and concessions. The two pools at Chickahominy Riverfront Park are adjacent to the new picnic pavilion and playground and feature a water spray cannon as well as a shade area, lounge chairs and drink machines.
