Leaf Collection
Between November 7 and November 20 and January 2 and January 15, James City County residents may drop off leaves free of charge at the Jolly Pond Convenience Center, 1204 Jolly Pond Rd., daily between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Leaves will only be accepted in clear bags no larger than lawn or leaf-size (40 gallons or less). Leaves from commercial lawn service companies will be accepted by Convenience Center staff with a letter from the resident containing the resident’s name, address and telephone number.
At all other times, leaves may be self-hauled by using coupons available at the Treasurer’s Office, Satellite Office, all County fire stations or online. One coupon per four lawn and leaf-sized bags is required.
Brush and tree limbs are not included in the free collection and will require coupons.
Curbside Collection
James City County will provide one round of curbside leaf collection. Collection dates are as follows and are determined by voting district. Due to the recent redistricting, residents’ voting districts may have changed. District information can be found on the maps linked below or by calling General Services at 757-259-4080.

Leaves must be in clear bags no larger than lawn or leaf-size (40 gallons or less). Bagged leaves must be left curbside by 8 a.m. on the first day of collection in each district. Each street will be collected one time only. Bulky materials such as brush and tree limbs cannot be accepted.
Leaf Burning
Burning of leaves is not permitted in James City County, except in certain areas zoned A-1, General Agriculture.
Bagged leaves will be available, free of charge, for personal composting only.
