#5 Plastic containers and Brita filters

Mail plastics labeled “5” on the bottom (which may be in the form of yogurt and  sour cream containers) and Brita filters to Preserve’s “Gimme 5” program

Plastic bags

JCC Convenience Centers & most grocery stores (please do not include plastic bags in curbside recycling, because they can jam recycling equipment)

Athletic shoes

Nike Factory Store at the Prime Outlets. (Please no dress shoes, cleats, or shoes with metal pieces.) These are used in basketball courts, playgrounds, tracks, and new Nike products.

Rechargeable batteries

Staples, Radio Shack and our Household Chemical Collections (which also recycles standard household batteries)

Cell phones

Verizon, Office Depot, Staples, Avalon Center for Women and Children

Compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs

Take it to a thrift store or get someone who wants it to pick it up for free by using Williamsburg Freecycle or Hampton Roads craigslist
