Watershed Management
Watershed management planning is a recognized tool for maintaining and improving environmental quality related to our waterways. In James City County, the watershed planning process identifies environmentally sensitive areas and develops specific protection, restoration and retrofit recommendations. This information is used to guide development within the watersheds and identifies priority water quality capital improvement projects for the County’s capital improvement program. The County began developing plans for each watershed (Watershed map) in 2002. Plans for the Powhatan and Yarmouth Creeks are complete and have been accepted by the Board of Supervisors (Plans).
