Due Dates and Rates - Payments for renewed business licenses are due by April 5 of every year. A penalty of 10 percent or $10.00, whichever is greater, will be applied to any outstanding balances not paid by this date. Interest of 10 percent annually begins on May 1 of every year.
Applications and Renewals - Applications and renewals for business licenses are processed through the Commissioner of the Revenue's office. That office can be reached at (757) 253-6698. Any CHANGES that may be needed on your account will also be handled in that office.
Billing - The Treasurer's office will send reminders for each delinquent license two times. If a response is not received after the second notice, the account will be turned over to the County Attorney for collection. We will accept payment agreements on accounts once they become delinquent.
