Does DMV give information to James City County on newly registered/sold vehicles? No. Any persons moving to the County, or purchasing or selling a vehicle must notify the Commissioner of the Revenue's Office as well as the Department of Motor Vehicles. The Commissioner of the Revenue's office handles all assessments and can be reached at (757) 253-6695.

How do I obtain a decal for my vehicle? You must first contact the Commissioner of the Revenue's office at (757) 253-6695. That office will advise you of all paperwork and information they will need before your vehicle can be entered into the system for a decal.
