Program Areas


The James City County Office is a part of Virginia Cooperative Extension, an educational outreach program of Virginia Tech and Virginia State Universities. We provide research based information through a system of campus and locally based educators.

Master Gardner Program

Virginia Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners (VCE-MGs) are volunteers with Extension dedicated to working with the community to encourage and promote environmentally sound horticulture practices through sustainable landscape management educational programs.  For more information about our local master gardener program visit the James City County/Williamsburg Master Gardener web site.

Turf Love Program

The Turf Love Program, through public workshops and on-site lawn analysis, teaches residents how to produce healthy turf while reducing the use of fertilizers, pesticides and insecticides that pollute our streams, rivers and the Chesapeake Bay.
