James City County - the Heart of the Historic Triangle
In 1607, almost 400 years ago, the Virginia Company established what was to become the first permanent English colony in the New World right here on Jamestown Island. Today, we're a suburban County of over 50,000 people, about half-way between the metropolitan areas of Richmond and Hampton Roads, and next door to Williamsburg's College of William and Mary and Colonial restoration. We're known for international tourism and beautifully developed residential neighborhoods, which combine to give us the charm of a small town with all the amenities you'd expect to find in a more urban area. Our schools are excellent, and recreational and cultural opportunities abound. More History>>
